Hector Fellow Thomas Elbert receives the Carl-Friedrich-von-Weizsäcker-Preis 2016

Prof. Dr. Thomas Elbert and Dr. Maggie Schauer will be honored with the Carl-Friedrich-von-Weizsäcker-Prize. The Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft and the German Academy of Science Leopoldina recognize the two scientists from Konstanz for their work with traumatized persons.
Thomas Elbert and Maggie Schauer deal with traumata in their research, which were caused by violence from war, migration or even domestic abuse. In their studies they consider the individual effects as well as the consequences for the society. Based on their research, the two psychologists developed effective therapies to treat traumatized persons and to allow the society a peaceful coexistence.
The price endowed with 50.000 Euro is granted every two years to researchers whose work greatly contributes to solutions of socially relevant problems.
