Axel Meyer elected to American Academy

    Axel Meyer is one of the new members 2019 of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

    On April 17, 2019, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences announced the names of the 214 newly elected members of this year's class. Founded in 1780, the society is one of the most prestigious in the USA and counts over 5000 members in total.

    Hector Fellow Axel Meyer is one of the 2019 new members of the Academy. The members are divided into five classes and the corresponding sections. Axel Meyer is now part of the class 2 "Biological Sciences" in the category 4 "Evolutionary and Population Biology and Ecology". 

    The new class will be introduced officially at a ceremony in October 2019 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. By accepting the new members, the American Academy honors their outstanding achievements in the fields of academy, arts, government, and public affairs.
